Responding to market demands and meeting the specific needs of machining operations typical of certain sectors, primarily hydraulic/oleodynamic distributors: these are the reasons why Project Group decided to invest in building the robotic deburring cell “MillingCAB“.
THE PROBLEM
The idea of developing an innovative robotic deburring cell originated from a very specific market need: eliminating burrs – particularly internal ones – that are created after machining carried out by machine tools.
CURRENT SOLUTIONS
Today, the cleaning/deburring operation is primarily carried out manually, requiring the use of full-time operators who use tools developed ad hoc for specific parts. In fact, manual deburring remains a craft-based operation that results in the individual operator’s skill having a significant impact on the final result, without any possibility of controlling the process and guaranteeing repeatability.
PROJECT GROUP’S SOLUTION
To respond to market challenges, here is the innovative solution from Project Group.
“MillingCAB“, an extremely compact and high-performance robotic cell that carries out a complete deburring cycle, enhancing the production process in all its main aspects: introducing automation of the process, guaranteeing complete cycle simulation, reducing waste, and optimising cycle time.

THE KEYS TO SUCCESS
Behind the development of this innovative product lies a study that allowed the Project Group technicians to gain full knowledge of the process, finding a single solution capable of resolving various problems:
- Guaranteeing the quality and complete control of the deburring process of internal surfaces where modern vision systems cannot reach, paying particular attention to the rigidity and any oscillations of the deburring tool, and thus selecting mechanical components capable of ensuring control of the machine’s movements.
- The reason that led Project Group to adopt an integrated CAD-CAM-based graphical programming software with easy programming is that it provides adequate tools capable not only of ensuring quality and repeatability, but also of making deburring operations effective from a single setup.
- Last but not least, dimensions. Project Group has created a very compact cell without any compromise on final performance.
HERE IS MILLINGCAB!
The new robotic cell MillingCAB by Project Group is capable of carrying out the deburring of hydraulic/oleodynamic distributors and related components, in particular their internal deburring of cross-drilled holes, internal cavities and, where required, external deburring.
In this way, the robotic deburring process replaces manual cleaning, tumbling, shot blasting, or thermal deburring.
The innovative application is highly useful for all companies that produce components of different materials and profiles requiring internal and external deburring; specifically, for companies that produce hydraulic/oleodynamic distributors (manifolds), as well as companies engaged in precision mechanical machining or subcontract deburring activities.
The design framework adopted for MillingCAB is furthermore an extendable technical base applicable to other processes requiring similar machining.
MillingCAB by Project Group is a complete solution for carrying out complex operations with the precision guaranteed by the robot and with easy programming supported by the CAD-CAM system.
A cutting-edge solution capable of challenging the market in the spirit of constant growth, in the sign of Project Group!
