Project Group received the assignment from the Marche-based company Gambini Meccanica<\/a>, specialised in the production of high-precision mechanical transmission components, to design and build a robotic cell<\/strong> to serve a machine tool for the machining of various types of rack gears.<\/p>\n

The customer’s requirement was to appropriately manage all the various components related to safety control of the cell, in particular the management of the Robot command for part handling.<\/p>\n

Control is achieved through a certified control unit with Category 4 commands, ensuring the safe stopping of the movement of both the Robot and the machines forming part of the automation. The cell is under remote control via Ethernet<\/strong>, making it possible to carry out diagnostic activities from a remote location.<\/p>\n

Project Group handled the design of the robotic cell, the study and realisation of the tray system to support the rack gears, and in particular conceived and realised the rack gear locking equipment in service of the machine tool.<\/p>\n

The cell is capable of working 3 shifts in a completely autonomous manner. The manual function is only performed to load the pallets with the parts to be machined and then to unload them with the finished parts.
